MLB: The 2017 Year in Review

Same Faces, New Places

Big names were changing teams at the trade deadline. Players like Justin Verlander, J.D. Martinez, Yu Darvish, Jose Quintana, Justin Upton, Jay Bruce, Todd Frazier, David Robertson, and Sean Doolittle provided boosts to their new clubs down the stretch.

Derek Jeter became a minority owner of the Miami Marlins and began their rebuild by trading off their best talent in Stanton, Ozuna, and Gordon

Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani agreed to join Mike Trout and the Angels for a $2.3 million signing bonus.

The Baseball Winter Meetings in Orlando, FL saw the signings of players like Brandon Morrow, Luke Gregerson, Michael Pineda, and Bryan Shaw while players like Giancarlo Stanton, Marcel Ozuna, Ian Kinsler, Chase Headley, and Stephen Piscotty changed teams via trade.

This year was certainly filled with many memorable moments. Next year we look forward to young players further establishing themselves as the next generation of MLB superstars. While the offseason can be boring at times, there’s nothing better than looking forward to the hope of a new season, a chance to start over and make memories that will last forever.
